Unlicensed vs. Licensed

Why do I need a licensed esthetician?

Having a licensed Esthetician is important because they have received professional training and passed an exam to prove their competency in providing skin care services. A licensed Esthetician must adhere to health and safety regulations to protect clients and maintain their license. In contrast, an unlicensed Esthetician may not have received proper training, may not follow sanitary procedures, and may not use safe and effective products. By choosing a licensed Esthetician, you can be assured of receiving high-quality skin care services in a safe and professional environment.

FAQs

Q: What is an esthetician?
A: An esthetician is a licensed skin care professional who specializes in providing services to improve the appearance and health of the skin. This can include facials, waxing, makeup application, and other treatments.
Q: What are some common skin concerns that estheticians address?
A: Estheticians can help with a variety of skin concerns, including acne, wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and dryness. They may also help clients with skin sensitivities, such as rosacea or eczema, or with pre- or postoperative skin care.
Q: What kind of training do estheticians need to have?
A: Estheticians must complete a state-approved training program and pass a licensing exam. Programs typically take 600-1000 hours to complete and cover anatomy, physiology, and histology, as well as skin analysis, product knowledge, and various treatment techniques.
Q: How can I prepare for an appointment with an esthetician?
A: Before your appointment, it's a good idea to cleanse your skin and avoid wearing heavy makeup or skin care products. You should also inform your esthetician of any medical conditions or medications you are taking, as these can impact the treatment recommendations.
Q: What should I expect during a facial appointment with an esthetician?
A: During a facial appointment, your esthetician will start by analyzing your skin and discussing your skincare goals. They will then cleanse and exfoliate your skin, perform extractions if needed, apply masks or serums, and finish with a moisturizer and SPF. The exact steps may vary based on your skin type and concerns.
Q: What are the benefits of regular facials?
A: Regular facials can help improve the overall appearance and health of your skin. They can also help remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, boost circulation, and stimulate cell renewal.
Regular facials can also provide deep hydration, which can help prevent fine lines and wrinkles.
